Efficacy
The active agent phosphine is directly available by gassing, the gas is distributed rapidly and homogeneously. This kind of application is not dependent on temperature (can be used at low temperatures as well) or humidity.
Phosphine is highly toxic to organisms undergoing oxidative respiration. As a strong reducing agent, it inhibits intracellular oxidative processes by reducing the central iron ion in haemoglobin. Phosphine is used as a fumigant to control insects infesting stored products. It is effective by contact action as a respiratory poison.
After the fumigation with FRISIN® the rooms are ventilated. Phosphine is readily absorbed and metabolised to phosphorous compounds of decreased toxicity, finally resulting in naturally occurring phosphates. Within less than one hour of good ventilation no toxic phosphine is left. This is confirmed by a regularly following measurement of this gas.
